On Cloud Solutions; Luxury or Necessity for the organizations?

The digital transformation era has taken organizations (public and private) to implement solutions on the cloud to allow them to improve their processes. 

To begin, we can define the cloud, as a portion of the internet that allows the companies to access and connect to share computer services (cloud computing) provided through physical infrastructure, software, and services that any person or company can hire. 

The cloud, is a term, use to describe a global network of machines, each one with specific functions. It is not a physical entity, but a big network of equipment and remote servers located around the world, that connects to function as a single ecosystem. 

These servers are designed to storage and administrate data, execute applications or deliver content or services, such as video streaming, webmail, databases, integration services, AI, office automation, social media, etc. 

Instead of access to files and data from personal or local equipment, the access is online from any device connected to the internet; it means, that the information is available at any moment and any place you need access from. 

There are different types of cloud: 

  1. Public: it shares resources and offers services to the public through the internet
  2. Private: it does not share resources and offers services through an internal network, normally hosted in a local environment.
  3. Hybrid: It shares services between public and private clouds.
  4. Community: It shares resources only between organizations, for example, with governmental institutions. 

On the other hand, we can define a solution as an application or system modeled or implemented to fix a problem or a punctual necessity of the companies, through different technical resources (virtual machines, databases, storage accounts, etc.), both software and hardware. 

Traditionally the solutions had been unfolding in equipment located physically on local datacentres previously armed in each company, which implies incurring in complex installation activities, setting up, testing, updates, maintenance, and capital expenses, among others, while the on cloud solutions release the great majority of those activities because it allows you to pick and to configure punctual services required for each solution; thanks to this, the expenses become operative ones, which allows the company to pay only what they are using or consuming, thus substantially reducing the waste of local computing power. 

The cloud came to stay, and every time more companies trust the public clouds such as Azure, Google, AWS, etc. The suppliers of cloud services had been making huge efforts in the last years, to evolve on their security levels, generating a higher trust between the customers, so they use their solutions knowing that their data is safe. 

The range of options to hire from on cloud services suppliers is getting wider by the minute, thanks to the goal they have in common to provide everything as a service (X-as-a-Service). 

Nowadays, for example, they offer infrastructure as a service, platform as a service, and software as a service, among others; nevertheless, they had offered services, some of them deprecated, such as blockchain as a service on Azure, who offered for a while blockchain services on the cloud. 

In conclusion, almost every solution, since the previous analysis, is conceived and planned to be implemented from the cloud. The companies have noticed the huge savings on time and money they can accomplish under this type of architecture. Besides, the management is very accessible from any place of the world and virtually from any device connected to the inter
